Editorial, PR & Communications Assistant (Part-Time | Flexible | Work From Home)

Looking for work that understands real life? This may be for you.

I’m hiring a part-time Editorial, PR & Communications Assistant to help support local businesses, community projects, events, publications, and communications initiatives. This role blends writing, organization, outreach, publication support, and project coordination across multiple community-focused projects.

This role is remote-friendly and flexible because, frankly, I’ve worked with kids climbing on me, babies nursing while typing emails, and chaos happening in the background too.

I don’t care if your toddler is at your feet, if you work during nap time, or if your office occasionally includes snacks and cartoons (just share!).

I do care that deadlines you agree to are met, communication is solid, and projects keep moving. This role offers a lot of flexibility, but it also requires ownership. I’m looking for someone who can manage deadlines, communicate proactively, and keep projects moving without needing daily oversight or micromanagement.

This role is much more editorial, communications, and project-focused than social media marketing. If you love writing, organizing, coordinating moving pieces, and helping community projects succeed, you’ll probably enjoy this role.

I already have a social media manager, so this role is NOT focused on social media management, content creation for social platforms, running ads, influencer marketing, or online marketing campaigns.

If your experience or passion is primarily social media management or paid advertising, this probably is not the right fit — and that’s okay.

This role is much better suited for someone who enjoys writing, organization, communications, public relations, media outreach, project management, and helping local community projects move forward.

Projects may include supporting community organizations, local businesses, events, publications, and outreach projects through communications and marketing support.

This includes projects connected to Colorado Business Mingle, community initiatives, networking events, local business clients, charitable projects, and an upcoming local publication project.

One week you might be helping draft a press release for a local event, the next you may be organizing email campaigns, coordinating community outreach, updating website content, assisting with publication content and deadlines, or helping support a fundraiser or business networking project. No two weeks are exactly the same.

What you’ll help with:

• Email marketing and newsletters
• Scheduling and sending email campaigns in Mailchimp (required)
• Supporting communications for community and networking events
• Basic WordPress content updates (adding blog posts, updating text/images, posting events, simple edits — no web development required)
• Calendaring events, deadlines, and outreach activities
• Drafting press releases, media pitches, calendar submissions, and communication materials
• Use AI tools to support drafting, brainstorming, and productivity while ensuring content is edited, proofread, and human-reviewed (AI always gets dates wrong for example)
• Assisting with local media outreach and communications
• Helping support local marketing projects and community initiatives
• General organization and keeping projects moving forward
• Helping manage lots of moving pieces across multiple projects
• Following up with media contacts, partners, vendors, or community organizations when needed
• Assisting with publication content, organization, and deadlines

You might be a good fit if you:

• Are organized and can juggle multiple projects at once
• Communicate well and write professionally

• Can manage deadlines without someone constantly checking in
• Enjoy working behind the scenes to make things happen
• Like local community involvement and supporting small businesses
• Can learn new systems and technology quickly
• Are comfortable with text-heavy communication and quick check-ins (preferred over phone calls)
• Have basic WordPress knowledge or are comfortable learning how to update website content
• Understand AI is a tool to improve efficiency — not replace proofreading, editing, fact-checking, or human judgment
• Enjoy communications, organization, outreach, and in-person relationship-building more than creating social content or running ads
• Are not afraid to organize me a little too (only sort of joking 😆). If you naturally create systems, reminders, lists, and keep projects moving, you’ll probably thrive here

• Occasional planning meetings with kids underfoot doesn’t bother you

Position Details:

• Part-time position starting around 20 hours per month (about 5 hours/week) but likely to range 20 to 40 hours a month flex work

• Initial onboarding may require closer to 20 hours within the first 1–2 weeks to get projects organized and moving
• Starting pay: $20/hour
• Increase to $25/hour after 90 days if expectations are being met and the role is a good fit for both parties
• 1099 independent contractor position (W-9 required)
• Paid twice a month with timesheets submitted in Excel
• Remote / work from home with occasional events and in-person meetings. I limit in-person meetings but expect to need to meet initially a bit.
• Flexible schedule
• Strong preference for candidates local to Parker or surrounding communities
• Opportunity for expanded hours and growth as projects continue to grow

To apply, please complete the application form (please do not DM). Include a little about yourself, relevant experience, and your favorite restaurant in Parker so I know you read the whole post 😄

This role is perfect for a mom who wants flexibility but also wants meaningful work with real expectations. If you’re dependable, organized, and can roll with a little chaos while helping support local businesses and community projects, I’d love to hear from you.
